The Story

vision

To create a user-friendly, transparent, and efficient marketplace where individuals could seamlessly buy, sell, or rent properties with ease.-JM Akbar

JM Akbar, a citizen of Bangladesh, founded BJIT Limited in 2001 and Navigation BD Limited in 2012. After getting a scholarship, he moved to Japan in his early 20s. After studying the Japanese language and Computer Engineering and becoming fluent in Japanese, he successfully achieved a 20-year career in international sales in the Japanese information technology industry.

Akbar has founded Navigation BD Limited and launched RentalHomeBD marketplace with the aim of providing the fastest, easy-to-use and most up-to-date letting website in the marketplace.

In the ever-evolving landscape of real estate, there emerged a visionary entrepreneur named JM Akbar. His journey from a computer science graduate to the founder of a ground-breaking real estate marketplace is a testament to innovation, resilience, and a keen understanding of the evolving needs of the industry. His vision is simple yet profound - to create a user-friendly, transparent, and efficient marketplace where individuals could seamlessly buy, sell, or rent properties with ease.

As the platform took shape, Akbar focused on creating a community-driven ecosystem. He understood that successful real estate transactions weren't just about buying and selling they were about fostering connections between people and places. The marketplace incorporated features like user reviews, community forums, and expert advice sections, transforming it into a comprehensive hub for all things real estate.

During his career, he met the President of Sony Corporation, Kunitake Ando, and worked closely to expand the sales of Sony's VAIO laptops. As he observed the growth and success of the Indian IT services industry in 2000, Akbar realized that Bangladesh, a country of 160 million people with growing numbers of engineering graduates who are fluent in English, could emulate this success.

At the time, top engineering graduates from universities in Bangladesh had no choice but to leave the country to find better work as there was a lack of homegrown employers in the IT sector. At the same time, English language engineering education in local universities was flourishing, and there was growing untapped talent even as demand for IT services in developed countries such as Japan was growing.

Akbar started his business by placing top Bangladeshi engineering graduates in the IT departments of leading Japanese companies. Over the past two decades, the industry has grown into the largest IT services company in Bangladesh, with over 650 engineers and offices in six global locations with a client list of prominent Japanese and European companies.

Akbar has been supported in this entrepreneurial journey by Kunitake Ando (currently the Honorary Chairman of BJIT) and other former executives of IBM Japan, Sony, and globally other high-tech companies. One of Akbar's co-founders is Michael Korver, a bilingual American businessman (formerly based in Tokyo) who is currently involved in the company as an advisor.

Today, RentalHomeBD marketplace stands tall as a disruptor in the industry, connecting people with their dream properties in ways previously unimaginable. His journey, from a passionate computer science graduate to the founder of a game-changing platform, is a beacon for aspiring entrepreneurs who seek to redefine industries through innovation and a deep understanding of the evolving needs of their users.
